Discord - Talk, Chat Hang Out - Summary

Discord debuted on May 13, 2015 and has become one of the most popular VoIP apps today. When you consider all of the platforms that can support Discord, it's not hard to understand why it has over 250 million users. With this app, you can communicate with other users by voice chat, video chat, and text messaging. In addition, you can send media and files to those you're chatting with. Users have the option of chatting in a group or chatting one-on-one in a private chat session. These chats are held on servers, which can be browsed and joined with a click of a button.

It's free to join Discord and you don't have to pay to enjoy awesome benefits. With that said, though, there are some items that you can purchase to give you a better experience. Once you create your account and username, you can fill in your information sections, but it's not mandatory. In addition to joining as many servers as you want, you can also have unlimited chats and friends. There are plenty of updates to make sure the app keeps running smoothly, as well as making sure all of the servers are within the guidelines or terms and conditions.

Discord - Key Functions

One of the benefits that many users appreciate is the fact that Discord has both private and public servers. With public servers, you can talk to pretty much anyone in the world and a private server is where you can talk to those you know or when you want to have a conversation that you don't want a lot of people to see. Another key function of the app is that you can search through any of the public servers and choose to join them. There's a server for almost anything and there's a high chance that you'll find something you love. Keep in mind, some servers will just require you to press the join button, while others will require you to answer some questions before you get approved.

If you chose to purchase a premium membership, you'll have 2 options. The first tier is called Discord Nitro Classic and costs $5 a month or $50 for an entire year. Not only does this membership allow you to change your 4-digit gamertag, but it also gives you special emotes and a nitro profile badge. The other membership is called Discord Nitro and costs $10 a month or $100 per year and includes all of the benefits of the classic tier and a few other benefits, including two server boosts and the ability to upload files that are 100MB or less.

Review/Conclusion

Discord isn't only for gamers and many people find servers that they enjoy. Besides having private conversations and making new friends, you can also upload many types of media. You can have a great experience without paying, but both paid memberships offer awesome benefits to the user. You can interact with other users through many different options and you can also send cute little emotes to get your message across. Overall, if you're looking for something that lets you join servers and talk to like-minded people, then Discord is a great option.

How to install and how to de-install/delete apps with iOS (similar for iPhone and other iOS devices):

Install Apps:

Apps on iOS are mostly downloaded through Apple's built-in App Store, but a few websites on Safari have mobile optimizations when added to the Home Screen from a web browser.

To install an app from the App Store:
1. Open the App Store.
2. The App Store is organized by featured stories, games, non-game apps, Apple Arcade, and search.
3. Select an app to download. To view more details before purchasing, tap the icon. Otherwise, move to the next step.
4. In both the detailed view and the list view is a price button. Tap this to change from price to "Install". Tap this to begin downloading.
5. Your credentials will be requested to complete the transaction. Apps larger than 100 MB will prompt you to allow the download to continue.
6. A cloud icon will appear in place of the price if the app was previously purchased. Tap this once to begin the installation.

To install a web app:
1. Locate the website which supports Apple's web app framework. The website should prompt users to add the site to the Home Screen if it does.
2. In Safari web browser, tap the square icon with an arrow (share button). This should open an action sheet.
3. Locate the option "Add to Home Screen." Tap on it.
4. Enter a name for the icon that will be added. Keep it short, otherwise it will be cut off.
5. The web app should now appear on the Home Screen. Tapping it will give a different interface than the website.

De-Install/Delete Apps:
Prior to iOS 13:
1. Tap and hold an icon until it starts wiggling.
2. Tap the "x" on the icon and confirm by selecting "Delete".

iOS 13+:
1. Tap and hold an icon until a drop down menu appears.
2. Select "Delete App" and confirm.
3. On iOS 14, this is labeled "Remove App." Tap "Delete App" on the popup that appears.
