Microsoft Teams Summary

Merely put, Microsoft Teams is a collaboration tool that has become essential to remote work. It offers shared spaces for hanging out with colleagues, working on particular projects, and participating in video and voice meetings. The application is incredibly powerful, such that it lets you design and deploy applications right alongside the chats.

Now, there’re many reasons why Microsoft Teams has undergone a tremendous rise, whereby it has outgrown its predecessors. Probably, the reason for this is Microsoft’s strong emphasis on compatibility. Today, you can use this collaboration software on almost any platform, from Mac and Windows desktops to iOS and Android smartphones.

Microsoft Teams for iOS brings the application’s desktop features to a smartphone, with several useful capabilities included. Ideally, Teams comes with three experiences – a desktop client, a web portal and a mobile application.

Teams for iOS is incredibly popular and have garnered hundreds of thousands of reviews on the App Store. Perhaps the reason for the good rating is that Microsoft continuously updates the application, paying equal emphasis to both iOS and Android versions. The current version allows you to invite link support, add folders or files to channels and use a virtual hand-raise to draw the host's attention.

Key Features

Text, Chat and Video Call

Teams allow you to stay connected with your friends and colleagues via messaging and video calling. You can also create groups to call and chat so you can get in touch with your family if you work in another state. Basically, Teams main objective is to become the number one messaging hub for all your chats, voice and video calls while using fun features, such as photos, GIFs, videos, documents or even locations.

Sharing

Teams integrate with other apps to make it easy for you to work straight from the application. And because your files are stored in a cloud storage device, you can easily access these files from various devices.

Other essential features include:

  • Connect Teams with iOS productivity controls – if you want to mute Teams notifications for a particular period to guarantee perfect work-life balance, you can easily set quiet hours and days.
  • It has a dark mode – the dark mode saves your battery and makes the usage much easier for extended application use.
  • It supports screen sharing – straight from your smartphone, Teams allows you to play videos, open a website and peruse presentations to share with your audience.

Conclusion

In order for the app to offer an impeccable experience to users, it incorporates the native Apple CallKit integration. Well, this means that all incoming calls on the application look like other typical calls and will even appear on the phone’s lock screen. Now, does the application have any limitations? As expected, the Teams desktop-based application outperforms the iOS app.

All in all, you can easily open Office files if you have the Microsoft Office app installed on your phone. If necessary, you can connect the app to third-party apps. At its best, this special application assures a sleek and simple communication experience, substituting the common platforms, like Skype, telephone, WhatsApp, etc.

How to install and how to de-install/delete apps with iOS (similar for iPhone and other iOS devices):

Install Apps:

Apps on iOS are mostly downloaded through Apple's built-in App Store, but a few websites on Safari have mobile optimizations when added to the Home Screen from a web browser.

To install an app from the App Store:
1. Open the App Store.
2. The App Store is organized by featured stories, games, non-game apps, Apple Arcade, and search.
3. Select an app to download. To view more details before purchasing, tap the icon. Otherwise, move to the next step.
4. In both the detailed view and the list view is a price button. Tap this to change from price to "Install". Tap this to begin downloading.
5. Your credentials will be requested to complete the transaction. Apps larger than 100 MB will prompt you to allow the download to continue.
6. A cloud icon will appear in place of the price if the app was previously purchased. Tap this once to begin the installation.

To install a web app:
1. Locate the website which supports Apple's web app framework. The website should prompt users to add the site to the Home Screen if it does.
2. In Safari web browser, tap the square icon with an arrow (share button). This should open an action sheet.
3. Locate the option "Add to Home Screen." Tap on it.
4. Enter a name for the icon that will be added. Keep it short, otherwise it will be cut off.
5. The web app should now appear on the Home Screen. Tapping it will give a different interface than the website.

De-Install/Delete Apps:
Prior to iOS 13:
1. Tap and hold an icon until it starts wiggling.
2. Tap the "x" on the icon and confirm by selecting "Delete".

iOS 13+:
1. Tap and hold an icon until a drop down menu appears.
2. Select "Delete App" and confirm.
3. On iOS 14, this is labeled "Remove App." Tap "Delete App" on the popup that appears.
