Minecraft has been around since 2009 and the mobile version came out in 2011. This edition quickly grew in popularity and has become almost as popular as the PC and console versions of the game. The mobile game has a lot of features and options that are the same as the PC or console versions and many of the controls are the same. You have a few different modes you can play on and either follow the story line or do your own thing. Regardless of what you choose, you'll want to find materials and create your items. Some people choose to do this in creative mode then switch to survival because creative mode will give you all of the materials without having to go and mine them. In addition, the enemies on creative mode won't attack you and you won't have to worry about losing your items.
The more you mine and kill enemies, the more experience you get. As you level up, your health will go up and you'll become stronger. You'll want to make sure you eat because you'll start losing hearts if you don't. When all of your hearts are gone, your character dies. All of the items in your inventory will be dropped in the place where the character died and you'll need to go collect them if you don't want to start from scratch.
After choosing your character, you can begin the game. You'll be able to play on different worlds and you can choose the option to start with a bonus chest. If you're on survival mode, you'll want to mine as many materials as you can to build a house before it gets dark. Once darkness falls, enemies will come out and attack you. If there are any enemies left when the sun comes up, the enemies will catch on fire. On the other hand, players on creative mode can create all of the items they need to survive before switching to survival.
You'll also be able to dig beneath the ground and find different building materials, like gold and diamonds. In addition, some maps will have villages that you can visit. Most of the time, these villages will have a few chests that you can check and take any items you need. The villagers will usually leave you alone and you can go into a house if night falls before you get back to your own. Eventually, you'll be able to build a portal and go into the Nether. There, you can fight several different enemies, including Enderman and Enderdragon. Before you try to fight them, you want to make sure you have the strongest items you can because they are hard to defeat. You don't have to rush to get your materials because these enemies are a part of the story mode and you'll need to face them to finish the story line.
Overall, the iOS version of Minecraft is very similar to the PC or console version. Not only does it have the same modes, but the gameplay is basically the same. While the graphics aren't as good as the PC or console version, they are a lot better than other games. Add to that the fact that you can set many parental controls and limit the type of multiplayer invitations, and it's no surprise the game is one of the best child-friendly options. It's a great option for playing Minecraft on the go and it can be a thoroughly enjoyable experience if you can get past the controls and smaller screen.
